Barking Bear started in 1993 when I could not find attractive, feminine collars for my 150 pound Newfoundland Dog. A pet boutique owner whose dog played with mine at the park asked me to come up with designs for his shop. Now Barking Bear is in rural Vermont, with an entire floor of my home devoted to the business. Barking Bear collars and leashes are sold internationally. The name of the business came about because of a little girl at the park who used to yell out when she would see my dog coming up the pathway, "Mummy look! Here comes the barking bear!"
